Ashley was the former Resource Specialist for the Asian American Ministries department. Prior to that, she served as a campus minister at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, working primarily with Hmong American and Asian American students. She co-hosts the Better Than Seven Sons podcast and dabbles into many projects. Ashley now lives in St. Paul, MN with her husband where they enjoy learning and exploring the history and people of the city.

 Amy was the former Team Leader of Central & West Ohio. In ministry, she is passionate about prayer and challenging students into deeper leadership and intimacy with Jesus. She also enjoys Midwest evenings on the porch, Taiwanese oyster vermicelli, and sleeping in her own bed.

Paula Puckett is an InterVarsity Campus Minister to Faculty at William & Mary, where she has spent years building a faculty community through consistent, trust-building communication. The principles and sample emails in this guide are drawn from her experience

Lina was born in Bogotá, Colombia South America, where she studied in the Statistics Master degree program, at the National University of Colombia, and was a Professor of Statistics for 20 years. While still a university student she renewed her commitment to Jesus and served as National Advisor in the Christian University Student Ministry for 25 years. 

Lina, her husband Wilson, and their three children Andrés, Adriana, and Denise have lived in the USA since 1996. Lina was a Professor of Languages and Cultures at Wheaton College for 15 years. Throughout this time, she also continued her ministry with college students joining InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where she served as a National Advisor over 25 years.

She obtained her Master’s degree in Christian Ministries at Northern Seminary, in Chicago, IL, and her Certificate as Spiritual Director and Supervisor for Spiritual Directors at North Park Seminary, in Chicago, IL. She has served as a member of the Central Conference Spiritual Direction Network Leadership Team, and delights in being a companion and witness of God’s love and grace to people in Spiritual Direction. 

Sarah Shin is the author of Beyond Colorblind (IVP, 2017). She formerly served as the Associate National Director of Evangelism for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and is a speaker that connects ethnicity and biblically-informed faith. Sarah holds a Master of Letters in Analytic and Exegetical Theology from the University of St. Andrews, a Master of Arts in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Master in City Planning and Development from MIT. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Theological Ethics at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She loves to create good food, art, and community with her husband and daughter.

Melissa formerly served students and staff as the Chicagoland Associate Area Director and National Pilipino American InterVarsity Coordinator. Justin was the Indiana and Illinois Asian American Regional Coordinator and a national Asian American Ministries coach for various Asian American student ministries across the country.  Their hope is to see Pilipino students discipled, empowered and reached in Chicagoland and beyond.

Nicole was the former Senior Director of Operations for InterVarsity/USA’s Diversity department. She has served as a volunteer, campus minister, and team leader at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and the University of Maryland, College Park, working primarily with Asian American students. She loves the university and is always eager to witness students dream, develop curiosity, and discover a sense of belonging.

Former staff member Todd Minturn helped lead the Fresno Institute of Urban Leadership in Fresno, California. He has found that a commitment to spiritual formation and prayer are a necessary foundation to anyone seeking to serve Christ in the urban environment. He is married to Carrie and the father of two children.

Sarah Akutagawa is based in Santa Cruz, originally from San Francisco, California. She worked for InterVarsity for over 10 years, working as the National Director of Diversity after spending time serving international students in Northern California.
