HC Yang

HC has been on staff with InterVarsity for 10 years, currently serving as the Associate Area Director for Chicago. In an increasingly complex, polarized, and chaotic world – a world that Christians have largely failed – he wants to see God form a people that can speak prophetically, act imaginatively, and live freely, bearing witness to the shalom God wants to bring. He has served at a variety of contexts in Chicago and most recently led a multi-chapter ministry plant at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He completed his Masters of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and is working on his Masters in Theology at Duke Divinity School.

Communal Planting: An Overview

Learn about a method of planting campus ministry that takes on a distinctly inclusive, interdependent, communal posture

Peace Feast

Peace Feasts are helping groups across the country grow witnessing relationships with Muslims. Instead of a formal dialogue with guest lecturers and little interaction, Peace Feasts are about heart-level dialogue: Muslims and Christians get together in small groups, share a meal and discuss faith and life.

Navigating Small Group Conflict

Conflict is complex and a normal part of life. If you have conflict in your small group, it’s a good sign that your group is safe enough to have tension. Conflict, when addressed and resolved, grows the small group closer and healthier, as well as helps everyone in the group mature in emotional and spiritual health. This will help that process.

Leading Communal Listening Prayer

While there are many ways for a small group to encounter Jesus together, listening prayer is one way to grow our intimacy and dependency on God. This resource will teach you the steps to leading listening prayer with your small group and give you practical prayer prompts to use.

Faking It (GIG)

Our non-Christian friends don’t need us to have all the answers, but they do need us to be real with them. This 4-week God-Investigation Group (GIG) series allows us to explore Jesus and be more real about our needs with one another.

Developing Your Small Group Members

This worksheet will walk you through the steps of finding apprentices, mentoring them, and creating a roadmap for small group leadership development.
